The Position
BREAKFAST is seeking a passionate and highly skilled creative coder with a flair for mechanical, real-time, data-driven kinetic artworks. The applicant should have experience bringing art to life through code and enjoy pushing the boundaries of creativity and technology.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with artists, engineers, and designers to conceptualize and implement innovative, data-driven kinetic artworks.
- Develop and maintain robust codebases using Python as the primary language, ensuring efficient performance and stability of the artworks.
- Utilize your creative coding expertise in languages/platforms such as JavaScript, Processing, Cinder, C++, etc., to implement interactive and visually stunning experiences.
- Incorporate real-time data inputs to drive the behavior and aesthetics of the kinetic artworks.
- Conduct rigorous testing and troubleshooting to identify and fix any technical issues.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in creative coding, art, and technology, and apply them to enhance the quality and impact of our installations.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior members of the team, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
Experience and Skills
- Extensive experience in creative coding, preferably in the realm of mechanical, real-time, data-driven kinetic artworks.
- Proficiency in at least one creative coding language/platform such as JavaScript, Processing, Cinder, C++, etc.
- Familiarity with Python is a bonus, but not a strict requirement.
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software development principles.
- Solid understanding of motion and physics, with the ability to translate concepts into visually captivating and technically feasible artworks.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- A portfolio showcasing your previous creative coding projects or artworks would be highly beneficial.
