This Flip-Discs artwork visualizes the real-time ebb-and-flow of the tide at Playa Negra—a black sand beach in Vieques, Puerto Rico. The speed, direction, and swell height are all represented in how the piece moves.
As one walks up to the piece, their image is reflected back. The contrast of their image changes based on the state of the current tide.
The artwork is made from electromagnetic Flip-Discs— a medium engineered by BREAKFAST.
