Abstraction, Neuse River

Ink on Flip-Discs, software, camera, computer
11.2 x 11.2 ft
Executed in 2023

As viewers engage with Abstraction, their movements are recorded as invisible brushstrokes that come to life as abstract patterns after stepping away. These patterns evolve, growing more or less complex, directly reflecting the dynamism and rhythm of the audience’s presence.
Crafted from over 50,000 Flip-Discs, each disc serves as a pixel in a vast, ever-changing tapestry. One side of these discs features a custom print inspired from the evening sky over the Neuse River, while the reverse shines with gold foil. The result is a fluid symphony of light and motion, a dance of color and reflection, allowing each viewer to communicate with the piece as both artist and observer.
